One team from our Vancouver Future City Builders program launched a pilot event in May 2019 called Danger Disco. Designed as a pilot event for the larger Freak Out Fest concept, the one night dance party had a goal of raising awareness for Emergency Preparedness week in Vancouver for older youth in a way that was fun and engaging. While not the winner at our Vancouver Urban Action Pitch-Off, the team put together an amazing pilot event!
Danger Disco was a one night dance party, with beats from DJ Paperwave and Vyvify and held at Rogue in Vancouver. Educational activities were also programmed, including a big map of Vancouver with all the disaster supports indicated. The fun didn’t stop there, the event also had a Disaster Drawing table and handed out super cute, hand made emergency kit items list in a set of matches that people were able to take home. The project aims to host another Danger Disco event in October, in time for Shake Out Week. Check out photos from the event:
